How you can get involved…
Character Education Conferences
Townley Grammar School hosts a number of Character Education Conferences in partnership with ACE (The Character Education Subject Association) and Canterbury Christchurch University. At these events, highly distinguished keynote speakers explore both the principles and benefits of Character Education and share their expertise. The aim of this is so that schools can create their own frameworks or build on existing frameworks for Character Education provision.
In recognition that character strengths are ‘a greater predictor of success in university and in life than mere exam passes’ (Sir Anthony Seldon), we hope that each conference will bring Character Education to the forefront of teaching.
Conferences are suitable for everyone from Senior Leader level through to trainee teachers. If you would like to be added to our mailing list so that you can be kept up to date with future events, please email us at: CharacterEd@townleygrammar.org.uk with your name, organisation and contact details.
Townley Grammar School has forged a number of partnerships with other industries and educational institutions in order to develop, implement and promote Character Education in schools. These partnerships are both national and international and have proved essential in the development and implementation of Character Education.
If you would like to secure a partnership with Townley Grammar School and would like to work more collaboratively with our existing partners, then please email Hannah Mitchem at: CharacterEd@townleygrammar.org.uk.
Character Education South East Hub
The hub for Character Education is chaired by Fabian de Fabiani and is an opportunity for schools across London and the South East to work collaboratively and share best practice. If you would like to become a member, please email Fabian directly at: CharacterEd@townleygrammar.org.uk
In the current climate there has been a rise in mental health issues in teenagers and young adults and therefore, as educationalists, we have a responsibility to address these issues and ensure that students are equipped with strong character traits that will prepare them for life beyond school. As an outward facing school, our vision is to highlight, promote and implement the principles of Character Education to schools nationally.
Your support will help us reach out to a growing number of schools and will therefore ensure that children from every financial and social background benefit from Character Education provision. Any donations will make a real difference for current and future students. Gifts of every size are welcome from those who wish to assist us in extending the support we can offer and help us to embed our vision for Character Education nationally. We do not aim to profit from the support and training we offer; any fee income is used to cover the costs involved.
Our Director of Character Education, Mr Fabian de Fabiani, has worked with multiple schools in the UK to develop and further embed Character Education nationally. In recognition of the impact that Fabian has made in educational provision, he was highly commended by the DfE at the 2016 Character Awards. If you would like support in laying your own frameworks for Character Education, or would like to build on existing frameworks, please contact the team at: CharacterEd@townleygrammar.org.uk.
