About Our School 

Townley Grammar School, one of the selective schools in the London Borough of Bexley. The school which was founded in 1937, has over the years established a tradition of academic excellence and is a lively, caring community of which we are justly proud. 

At Townley education is a creative process. We have a learning community which encourages academic, emotional and physical confidence. Our students are inspirational learners who have the courage to take risks and the wisdom to learn from their mistakes.

Townley Grammar School prides itself on its innovative approach to Teaching and Learning, and the varying opportunities that allow staff to continually develop. The personalised CPLD (Continuing Professional Learning and Development) pathways provide a personalised route for staff to navigate in developing their pedagogical practice with students at the heart of the process. This underpins our whole school ‘Work Kindly’ ethos and focuses on the 'Wellbeing' of staff and students alike.

Townley Grammar School is a multicultural girls' selective school with specialism in Performing and Visual Arts with Mathematics and Computing.

Rated as Outstanding by OFSTED in November 2015, some of the key findings are:

We currently work with a range of different university providers and also cater for the Assessment Only Route into teaching.  Our Professional Studies Programme and highly effective mentors ensure that trainees are supported, nurtured and challenged as they embark upon their teaching career. 

We are always excited to hear from people considering teacher training and can offer work experience placements and training across most secondary school subjects.
