In its fifth year this October, Design and Technology led a school trip to New York City, also including Dance and Media Studies, taking 34 students for a stunning excursion to enrich their current projects.
While abroad, they managed to take in the culture of New York in five days, partaking in activities including City tours exploring sights such as Chelsea, China town, Little Italy, Five Points , High line, 9/11 Memorial Gardens, Grand Central Station and Chrysler Building. All students went to the top of the Rockefeller Centre and Empire State building (where some unforgettable views could be seen) as well as individual subject activities. The Dance department organised a fantastic workshop, Design students took in the stellar architecture and art (MOMA & MET) of the city while the Media students had a chance to capture unique film material throughout New York. But in the evening, all departments came together to enjoy the Broadway show 'Pippin‘.
To say the least, everybody certainly took full advantage of the amazing opportunities New York had offered. As usual, Townley students upheld the school’s high standards of behaviour while away on the trip, and a special thank you to Mr Quinn, Miss Butler, Mrs Brittle and Mrs Hawkey for giving up their time.
