PRESS RELEASE
Kent Tennis Champion heads for the States!

Townley Grammar School sixth former Sophia T this week announced she has signed to play college tennis for the University of Arizona - a top ranked USA university.

The Wildcats have signed Sophia on a 100% four year athletic scholarship that covers all academic, tennis, accommodation, living and personal costs.

'I was looking for a top college where my focus on improvement on court, in the gym and in class would be matched and Arizona, the Wildcats team and in particular Coach Maes scored top in all categories'

Sophia has been ranked the number 1 player in her county for the past 3 years and ended the 2014/15 winter season ranked in the national top 10.

Sophia is also player captain for Kent County Junior Team which plays in the premier division of UK tennis.

To date Sophia lists her most inspirational moment (apart from visiting Arizona) as being presented with her 14th Birthday cake by Andy Murray on court at the ATP World Masters Final at the O2 Arena in London whilst she was a Ball Kid at the event.

After college Sophia intends to pursue a career on the professional tennis circuit.
