This year, Townley have recognised Women In War -
Edith Cavell  and Flora Sandes as a mark of respect for Remembrance Day

Edith Cavell was a British nurse and spy who smuggled British, French and Belgian soldiers out of German-occupied Belguim.  Edith is famous for her quote 'Patriotism is not enough'.

Flora Sandes also a nurse, was the only British  female soldier officially serving in the trenches.  Flora joined the Serbian army and was awarded the highest Servian honour, the Order of the Karadorde's Star

Our Year 8 and Year 9 students have each created their own individual poppy which is on display in 2006 Building foyer to mark Armistice Day.

Students who are members of any of the uniformed associations, were invited to wear their uniform to parade in the Townley Remembrance  Assemblies with the flags and wreath.
