On Friday 1st December 45 students from Years 7 – 10 travelled to the South Bank University in London for South Rowing Competition, organised by London Youth Rowing.
Nine Year 7s started the competition, all feeling a little nervous due to taking part in their first ever rowing competition. Waleola Ogunsipe managed to row 464m in two minutes and held on to joint third place. Fifteen keen, eager Year 8s competed in this competition, rowing for three minutes each. Amelie Brooks rowed exceptionally well to gain Silver, rowing 756m. Ten Year 9s performed strongly throughout their three-minute row. Stefanie Obuba gained the Silver with 755m and Edie Rowlands claimed the Bronze with 744m. To finish the day, eleven Year 10s rowed with determination and confidence. Taisha Clare smashed the field away, rowing 797m in three minutes and Motolani Shittu held on to Silver with 772m. Well done to all the students that competed and for their commitment and dedication to their training. Now to get ready for the National Rowing Competition in March. #townleygirlscan
