On Thursday 22nd June, entering our fourth year of collaboration with First Give, Townley Grammar School hosted its First Give School Final.
Over 100 guests filled the theatre including staff, charity representatives, students, parents and Governors. Amongst the guests were: Sinclair Beecham (Founder of Pret a Manger), Hannah Celia (Director of Jack Petchey Foundation) and Councillor Derry Begho.
Congratulations to 10 Demeter, for their success at the event. The £1000 grant will go to New Horizons, a youth homelessness charity.
The finalists were very well supported by all of the Year 10 students - their compassion and character strengths were evident in each and every presentation, it was a tour de force during turbulent times.
Desmond Deehan (Headteacher) commented that “The students put the passion into compassion.” Sinclair Beecham was very impressed by the event and Mr de Fabiani (Director of Character Education) said “This event epitomises all we do at Townley.”
The sense of unity, compassion and empathy shown by all was both poignant and inspirational.
