A huge well done to our Year 13 student Scarlet for participating in the London heats for the ARTiculation public speaking competition. This is the second time Scarlet has appeared in this competition.
ARTiculation, the national public speaking competition, which promotes and supports young people to look, think and speak about art. Scarlet presented at the London Regional Heat at The Royal Academy of Arts on Tuesday 15 January 2019.
This final saw students aged between 16 - 19 deliver a ten-minute presentations about a work of art, architecture or an artefact of their choice in front of an audience and an adjudicator.
Schools taking part were Eltham School, Emanuel School, Epsom College, Guildford High School, Harris Dulwich Girls, Notting Hill and Ealing School, Queen’s Gate School, Riverside School, Sandringham School, Townley Grammar School, Wycombe Abbey.
Christopher Le Brun, President of the Royal Academy and artist adjudicated this London Regional Heat.

In particular, Christopher Le Brun praised Scarlet for her brilliant and lively delivery, which picked up the drama and the violence of the painting. Le Brun stated he particularly enjoyed those moments when Scarlet described a part of the painting.
