Townley offers its students plenty of opportunities to develop leadership skills and is proud to be one of a few schools in the country to offer students a dedicated and progressive leadership programme at secondary level.

Townley offers a leadership programme for Key Stage 3 students in years 8 and year 9 - this programme is called the Diverse Leaders Network.

The second course is offered at Sixth Form; the Townley Leadership Programme where students complete a series of workshops and work with external professionals on styles of leadership and public speaking training.

New for 2018 is a residential 3 day programme called GSL Catalyst.  This 3 day programme is open to students in year 7 and 8 and is run in joint enterprise with Future Foundations.

Residential Programme Years 7 & 8 - GSL Catalyst

Global Social Leaders (GSL) Catalyst is a unique 3-day intensive leadership course, designed to develop leadership skills and an understanding of global issues enabling students to be a leader in life and society.  In July 2018 Townley Grammar School and Future Foundations are running a GSL Catalyst programme hosted at Queen’s College, Taunton for students in Year 7 and 8 attending Townley Grammar School.

GSL Catalyst is a transformational leadership experience and sustainable development programme developed by Future Foundations and the Wellington Leadership Institute that brings together young people who are driven to make social change on a global scale.  It is the introductory programme to our longer globally mixed programmes.

The programme develops each participant’s personal understanding of different leadership styles, and how to show leadership for oneself, in school, and in the community.

Participants will develop their understanding of the global challenges we face and how, through partnership and innovation, we can solve them. They will be taken through real life cases to demonstrate good project management and how to create their own impactful projects to take on after the programme ends.

Alongside the leadership course, the students will also have the opportunity to take part in a one-day excursion to the Eden Project.
