Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,
We have recently undertaken a review of school opening and closing times as the safety and wellbeing of our students are at the heart of everything we do as a school community. After a thorough review, we have identified the need to make some changes to ensure we are providing the highest standards of supervision and safeguarding. These adjustments also allow us to remain compliant with Health and Safety regulations and uphold our commitment to creating a secure environment for all.
It is essential that students arrive and leave the school site at appropriate times so that we can ensure they are safe and properly supervised. These measures are not only necessary for safety reasons but also to support the smooth running of the school day. We kindly ask for your cooperation in helping us implement these changes effectively.
The following changes will take effect at the start of the new academic year on Monday, 6th January 2025. Please read the information carefully and discuss it as a family to ensure everyone is clear on the updated procedures:
School Entry:
- No earlier than 7:30 am: To ensure adequate supervision, all school entrances will be locked before 7:30 am, and students will not be able to enter the school site before this time.
- 7:30–8:00 am: If students arrive on site during this period, they must remain in Bytes. Access to other areas of the school is not permitted before 8:00 am.
After-School Supervision:
- Designated Areas: After school, students are only permitted to stay on site in designated areas unless they are under the supervision of a staff member, participating in a club, or attending a Mastery session. The designated areas are:
- The library
- Bytes
- The Old Gym
- Sixth Form Students: Sixth Form students may also use the Sixth Form common rooms.
School Departure:
- Years 7–11: All students in Years 7–11 must leave the school site by 5:00 pm unless they are in a supervised activity.
- Years 12–13: All students in Years 12–13 must leave the school site by 5:30 pm unless they are in a supervised activity.
We understand that these changes may require some adjustments to your family routines. We encourage you to take some time over the Christmas break to plan accordingly. Your support and cooperation are greatly appreciated, as these measures are vital to maintaining the safety and security of all our students.
Thank you for your understanding and for working with us to uphold the highest standards of care and safety for our school community.
Kind regards,
Miss S Totty
Acting Headteacher
