Re: Mastery Programme
We are writing to inform you about the upcoming Mastery Sessions that will be offered to all students at Townley Grammar School. These sessions are delivered by subject-specialists and designed to provide additional support beyond the classroom, as an extension of the intervention already offered in the school day. We have attached the original letter as this outlines, in more detail, the nature of our Mastery programme.
On Wednesday 16th October at 3.30pm, the links below will be activated, enabling students to sign up for the Mastery sessions that they feel will support and enhance their learning. Students are only able to sign up to sessions this term at this stage. Please note that if teachers believe a particular student would benefit from attending a session, parents/carers will receive a separate email from Arbor notifying them of this before Wednesday so please check your notifications from Arbor. We encourage full participation in these sessions if your child is invited. If you receive an invitation, please could we ask that you promptly accept or decline the offer so that we are then able to plan ahead with accurate figures regarding availability for other students in each session.
We recognise that some students who are not invited to a particular session may also like to receive additional support or may wish to deepen their understanding in a particular topic. It is therefore important to note that the sessions are available to all students. Please could you discuss the sessions advertised on the attached document with your child. In this document you will only be able to view specific topic-focused sessions until the end of term, but can see the dates offered by subjects to specific year groups thereafter. Further information about sessions in 2025 will be shared in December. Please note that sessions are provisional and are subject to change depending on demand and availability.
If your child chooses to sign up, we ask that they commit to attending the sessions on the date selected. Please note that the link will close at 3.30pm on Friday 18th October. If a student decides that they would like to attend after the link closes, they should speak directly with their subject teacher or the Head of Department to check availability.
Please could you clearly state on the form if you consent to your child making their own way home at 5pm after the session closes. If you require your child to wait in reception so that you can collect them, please also tick the box to let us know. If you are collecting your child from reception, we would ask that you come to the reception area so they can be signed out by a member of staff. We would not be able to let students leave the site to meet you outside if you have selected this option.
Please note that due to capacity, it may be necessary to repeat the selected session in the spring term if the number of students registering for a place exceeds the available places. We will notify students if this affects them.
Mastery Sessions will run throughout the academic year; those offered in the spring term will be advertised at the end of this term. In the meantime, if your child requires additional support, please encourage them to speak to their subject teacher so they can be directed to support offered in the school day.
