Oxbridge Evening

Oxbridge Guide - Information and help to support your application to Oxford and Cambridge UniversitiesIn March, we held our annual Oxbridge evening for Year 11 and Year 12 parents and students, the purpose of the evening being to provide attendees with a holistic view of applying to Oxford and Cambridge universities.
Mr Rouse, Head of Sixth Form detailed the Year 12 Oxbridge Elective syllabus along with the supportive programme in place at Townley for potential Oxbridge applicants. He was joined by Outreach Officers from Mansfield College, Oxford and Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge who covered preparing to apply, the application process, how to choose a college, admissions tests and interviews.
In addition, we had one of our current offer holders, looking to study Mathematics and Computer Science at Oxford, plus two alumnae in their first year at Oxford, one studying Classics and one at Cambridge studying Law. They all gave their personal insights into the application process, university life and studying at these most prestigious universities.

Feedback from some who attended:
"It gave me a good oversight to the application process and the steps I should take to prepare when I enter Year 12"

"I found it very helpful to outline what admissions tutors are looking for in your statement"

"It gave a real insight to what it was like to apply and to see how they are finding university life now"
