    Year 7 Open Evening 2024

Open Evening for Prospective Year 7 students joining us in September 2025

    Wednesday 26th June,
    5 pm - 8.30 pm

    Ticketed Event

    Academic Excellence

Our students consistently impressed with their academic prowess. The Maths Challenge saw a phenomenal year, with over 77% of participating students (236 out of 303) receiving certificates. A record-breaking number achieved Gold (46) and Silver (84) awards, with Sasha K particularly shining by qualifying for the prestigious Olympiad! This year we ran the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme which is  the most esteemed scholarship scheme of its type in the UK. This year we have had two successful candidates, who have become Arkwright Scholars.
The Science Fayre and student success in the national Biology essay writing competition are testaments to our commitment to nurturing a love for learning in all disciplines.
We were awarded Leading Edge status in "Professional Development" and "Engaging in Evidence and Research" by the SSAT Framework, placing our school among the most effective nationally. This recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff in fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

    A World of Learning

Beyond the classroom walls, Townley Grammar provided a world of learning experiences. Students embarked on enriching international trips to France, Germany, Spain, India, Japan, and Morocco. Closer to home, exciting excursions to Bath, a Consciousness Retreat to Lincoln and a geography field trip to Osmington Bay broadened their perspectives. The school fostered a vibrant and inclusive environment through initiatives like Black History Month, the Asian Celebration evening and international visitor programmes. These events provided valuable opportunities to celebrate diverse cultures and develop a deeper understanding of the world around us.

    A Celebration of Success

We take immense pride in recognising the achievements of all our students. Year 13 and Year 11 were both celebrated with heartfelt farewells, acknowledging the dedication and hard work they poured into their academic journeys. The collective applause from our whole school community that Year 13 received on their official last day was nothing short of spectacular; having the entire school outside to mark this occasion for our graduating students felt very special!
On the sporting front, our athletes brought home victory after victory. Both Year 7 and Year 8 Bexley Schools Athletics Championships were dominated by Townley Grammar, while the Year 9 Rounders team emerged victorious in their championship. Numerous inter-house tournaments throughout the year kept the competitive spirit alive. The Year 8 Sports Hall Athletics team also made it to the London Youth Games Final, a remarkable achievement!
Beyond athletics, Townley Grammar provided a platform for students to showcase their diverse talents. Talent shows, dance and drama productions, music events and the CanTeam event buzzed with creativity and energy. Our students actively contributed to the community through initiatives like the Year 7-12 intergenerational project broadcasted on Maritime Radio, outreach work by the Sixth Form and charity events such as the Valentine's Roses and Movie Afternoons. These projects demonstrate the positive impact our students have on the world around them.

    Wellbeing and Safeguarding

The wellbeing of our students is paramount at Townley Grammar. Staff and students actively participated in various initiatives throughout the year, prioritising mental health awareness. Anti-bullying Ambassador training equipped students with the skills to foster a safe and inclusive environment. Themed days like Time to Talk and Wear it Green encouraged open communication about mental health, while Mental Health Awareness Week activities provided opportunities for relaxation, connection and learning. Additionally, Knife Crime Awareness Week and workshops delivered by Bexley Women's Aid addressed important safety issues, ensuring a secure learning environment for all.

    Looking Ahead

The launch of Townley Advantage, our programme designed to equip students with valuable skills and experiences, is just one example of the exciting initiatives propelling Townley Grammar School forward. We are incredibly proud of everything our students and staff have accomplished this year, and we look forward to another year of academic excellence, personal growth and a thriving school community. As we embark on the new academic year, we are confident that Townley Grammar School will continue to be a beacon of opportunity, achievement, and wellbeing for all our students.
