Teaching and Learning
DfE, EEF and SSAT guidance underpins the quality assurance of Teaching and Learning at Townley and both internal and external CPD is provided to ensure staff are able to continually develop their practice to ensure quality first teaching in the classroom. Our own Townley Teaching and Learning toolkit is rooted in research-informed practice and is constantly evolving to ensure the quality of teaching and learning is continually enhanced and progressive.
The Townley Grammar Teaching and Learning Toolkit
We strive for highly effective, dynamic and innovative teaching at Townley, where teachers are passionate about their subjects, have high expectations and have excellent subject knowledge. In order to ensure the highest quality teaching, we recognise that teachers must demonstrate an expert understanding of how students learn and remember, using this to plan challenging, interesting and motivating lessons that broaden knowledge and continually develop skills. We also recognise the importance of reading both within and beyond the curriculum and have embedded opportunities for reading within curriculum time from years 7-13.
